Painting finished !!

HI there!

Yeah, heb eindelijk dit schilderij afgemaakt. Was dit doek ooit maanden geleden begonnen, maar het werd niet zoals ik wilde. Nu heb ik het met gesso overschilderd en er iets compleet anders van gemaakt!
Yeay, I finally finished this painting! I started this canvas ages ago, but it just didn't turn out the way I wanted. Now I painted it over with gesso and turned it into something completely different!














Painted the sides as well (they are 4 cm) :

Weet niet zeker of ik het te koop zal zetten of in mijn eigen keuken zal hangen, zodat mijn kinderen het de hele tijd kunnen zien, haha
Not really sure if I will put it up for sale or hang it in my own kitchen where my children can see it all the time (haha)

New collage painting

Nog een post vandaag: heb namelijk net een nieuw mix media schilderijtje af:

Started with a 20x20 cm canvas, and some collage materials

Collaging with handapinted papers. I just love this color combination of warm yellow, pink & turqoise..

Still, I add some more yellow to make the background less 'busy':

Adding lots of layers with paint, collaged (tissue-)papers...

And finished it off with stamps, text, and dots of color & some more collage:

Loooong looong time ago....

Hi all,

Dat is heeeel lang geleden zeg, dat ik iets op mijn blog heb geplaatst!!! Ben de laatste tijd weer heel druk met werk; niet alleen met de 'gewone' catering, maar ook met de opzet van een heel nieuwe webwinkel, met van alles erin (catering, verhuur, kunst....)
Heel leuk om te doen, maar het kost gewoon gigantisch veel tijd! En dus...geen tijd om te tekenen & te bloggen enzo...
Even een snelle update van dingetjes die ik nog niet geplaatst had op dit blog:

It's really a loooong loooong time ago since I've posted anything on my blog! I've been só terribly busy lately (and still am), not only with the 'usual' catering business, but also with setting up a whole new webstore (lots of things will be in there...catering, party decor, kitchen art...) Super fun to do, but it's costing a huge amount of time! Soooo... less drawing & less blogging for now, I'm afraid. Anyway, just a quick update for now of things I have not posted yet...

So, that's all for now. I'll get to back to drawing & blogging as fast as I can, but for now it's work, work, work !!!

Where is Alice??

Hi all,

Weet iemand waar Alice uithangt? Ze is vast aan de wandel ergens in Wonderland! Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat & Konijn zijn in ieder geval naar haar op zoek in mijn laaste collage/tekening.
Ik was online al heel vaak "Alice kunst" tegengekomen; dus toen ik in mijn stapel knipsels plaatjes tegenkwam van theekopjes én een konijn, moest ik wel dit ervan maken :

Does anybody know where Alice is hanging out? Probably dreamin'away somewhere in Wonderland...! Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat & Rabbit at least are looking for her in my latest collage/ drawing.
I had seen a lot of "Alice art" on line already; so when, going thru my piles, I found these teacups ánd a rabbit, I just hád to make this!

I only have one picture of 'before' (was so busy drawing I just forgot to take more pictures haha..):

I might be making some more "Alice" things; rather like the subject :) :)

So, make lots of art everyone, because it really makes you happy!

IN HET ROND / GOING ROUND...

Hi allemaal,

Hèhè... opluchting!! Mijn beide meiden zijn over! Nu kunnen we met een gerust hart op vakantie (*zucht van verlichting*)
En dát is al volgende week, yesss! Heb er ongelooflijk veel zin in, helemaal nu de zomer hier in Holland 't een beetje laat afweten..
Waarschijnlijk is dit ook mijn laatste blogpost voordat we weggaan, want ik heb nog een ongelooflijk drukke week voor de boeg; waarschijnlijk komt er niets meer van tekenen/ bloggen e.d.

Heb zulke leuke ronde canvas doekjes gevonden (bij de Xenos); van de week gelijk eentje in gebruik genomen:

Ooooofff... such a relief! Both my girls have passed their year & made it into the next class! (*sigh*...)Now we can really set off on our holidays with a happy heart! Which is next week already, yessss!!!! I really really feel like going away, especially now since summer in Holland still hasn't started yet (wonder if it will ever come...)This is probably my last blogpost before we go, since I've got tons of things to do the coming week; so not much time left for drawing/ blogging and such...

I found the above round canvasses in a shop in town (aren't they fun?!) ; so I made this painting last week.

Also received some lovely things in the mail (for a swap) from my Facebook friend Sharon:

Eindelijk weer.../ Finally painting again...

Hi allemaal,

Heb 'n hele tijd niets gepost op mijn blog helaas... Maar heb dan ook de laatste tijd niet kunnen tekenen of schilderen.
Twee jaar geleden ben ik geopereerd aan mijn beide handen wegens CTS klachten (carpaal tunnel syndroom). Dat heeft op zich toen goed geholpen alleen... je raadt het al: nu zijn de klachten (m.n. rechts), vanwege overbelasting, weer terug. Dus dat betekende voornamelijk rust rust rust. En dat is op z'n zachtst gezegd 'lastig', als je kookt/ catert voor je werk, en daarnaast gek bent op tekenen en schilderen!!

Maar goed: langzaamaan gaat 't weer beter; moet alleen mezelf goed in de gaten houden en de boel niet overbelasten....
Eindelijk weer eens een (klein) schilderijtje gemaakt:

Have not been able to post anything on my blog for quite a while...But then I haven't been able to draw or paint anything lately.
Two years ago I had this operation on both hands (for my CTS complaints) , which did help at the time. But, as you can guess, the complaints came back, esp. on my right hand/ wrist. So that ment: 'rest rest rest' and do nothing. Which is , to say te least, not 'very nice', when your work is cooking & catering and besides that you love to draw & paint!!

Anyway, slowly it's getting better again; I only have to take care not to do too much, take a rest inbetween things....
So finally I made a new (small) painting. It's a mixed media collage.

I made another 30x30 painting, this one with nice juicy strawberries (called "little kings of summer", in dutch..)

Hi all, Iedereen lekker van de zon aan het genieten? Vast wel!! Wij gaan zo barbecuen bij vrienden, dus nog gauw even een post met 2 nieuwe mixed media collages. Everybody enjoying the sunshine?? We're about to go barbequeing (is that a word..?) with friends, so this is just a quick post about 2 new mixed media collages:

Olijfjes/ Olives

Hi allemaal, Zo, de verkoudheid/griep is gelukkig weer achter de rug. Had gelijk weer zin om te schilderen enzo..Nog 2 mixed media collages gemaakt (allebei weer met 'culinaire' inslag!).
Well, luckily I got over that cold/ flu. Immediately wanted to paint again. So I made 2 more mixed media collages (both with a 'culinary' feel..):

Ik ben gek op olijven, jullie ook? Dus hier een lekker receptje om olijven te marineren.
I do love olives, don't you? So here's a nice recipe to marinate them.

Pittig: Neem ca. 60 ml. lekkere vergine olijfolie. Doe hier een fijngehakt teentje knoflook door, 1 tl. harissa, 2 eetl. gehakte geroosterde paprika (verkrijgbaar in pot). Doe er eventueel nog wat blokjes feta door. Meng met ca. 250 gram zwarte olijven en laat een paar uur intrekken.
Kruidig: 60 ml. olijfolie vermengen met wat fijngehakte (verse) rozemarijn & tijm; gehakt knoflookteentje erdoor en wat peper. Vermengen met 250 gram gemengd zwarte/ groene olijven en laten intrekken.

Spicy: Take 60 ml. vergine olive oil. Mix it with 1 finely chopped clove garlic, 1 teasp. harissa, 2 table sp. chopped roasted paprika. Put in some feta if you like. Mix it all with 250 gr. black olives. Let it rest for a few hours.
Herbs: Mix the olive oil with some chopped fresh rosemary & thyme; plus 1 finely chopped garlic clove and some ground pepper. Mix with the olives.

Wát 'n super super weertje!! Zo willen we 't graag (en dan ook een hele zomer lang, als 't kan!!) Helaas (hoe krijg ik 't voor elkaar) zat ik 'n paar dagen thuis met griep/ zware verkoudheid. Niet goed gepland, hè... Maar goed, knap gelukkig al weer op! Heb dan ook niet heel veel creatiefs gedaan. Nog wel leuke 15x15 collage gemaakt.

Oh my, what a lóvely wheather!! This is the way we like it (and preferably all summer long please!) Unfortunately (don't know hów I did this) I've been stuck with a severe cold/ flu these last couple days. Not really planned that one right, did I... Anyway, getting well again now! Didn't do a lot of creative stuff because of that. Did make one more 15x15 collage.
