Doodles & collages...

Hi there

Dit is de nieuwste spread in mijn doodle journal; best wel een tijdje ermee bezig geweest, maar ik ben heel blij met het resultaat !
This is the latest spread I made in my doodle journal; it took me a while to finish it, but I'm quite please with how it turned out !

Van al mijn art journals, is mijn doodle journal denk ik wel mijn favoriet; vind het heerlijk om met kleurpotloden te werken. Heb onlangs weer een nieuw setje aangeschaft, van Faber Castell deze keer. Heerlijke potloden, prachtig diepe kleuren....
Ik heb altijd een soort 'snoepwinkel-gevoel' als ik voor zo'n kleurpotloden stelling in de winkel sta, ken je dat?
Of all my art journals, I think my doodle journal must be my favourite; I just love working with colored pencils. I recently gifted myself with a new set, Faber Castell pencils. They are really very nice, beautiful deep colors...
I always feel like being a child in a candy store, when standing in front of a rack with colored pencils, recognize that?

Works on paper

Hi there !

Ben op dit moment bezig met een nieuwe serie werkjes op papier.
Ik zet ze in mijn Etsy shop , onder de naam 20x20ArT. Drie keer 20: de afmeting is 20x20 cm , en ze worden verkocht voor € 20,--.

Voor deze 'kunst-vierkantjes' hou ik ervan te werken met een combinatie van collage, acrylverf, gouache, kleurpotlood en wat ik verder nog maar aan materialen voorhanden heb.
Ik werk ook graag op een intuïtieve manier; ik start met wat collage en verf, waarna ik ga kijken wat voor gekke wezentjes en dingen er uit die ondergrond 'tevoorschijn komen'. Die breng ik vervolgens met doedels en kleur tot leven, waarna ik mijn schilderijtje afmaak met heel veel laagjes en decoraties.

At this moment I'm working on a new series of artworks on paper.
I'm putting them up for sale in my Etsy shop, under the name 20x20ArT : the dimensions are 20x20 cm, and they are being sold for € 20,-- a piece.

I love to work on these 'art-tiles'w ith a combo of collage, acrylics, gouache, colored pencil and whatever else I can get my hands on.
My way of working is quite 'serendipitous' ; I start with some collage and paint, after which I just look what kind of creatures and things 'emerge' from the background. With doodles & colors I bring them to life, then I finish my painting with lots of layers and decorations.

Sometimes....

Hi there !

Soms gebeurt het dat een journal page gewoon 'niet wil'....Bij deze ging van alles mis: de inkt vlekte hier en daar, de verf liet soms los, een nieuwe gluestick die niet goed werkte, witte gelpennen die ermee op hielden...en het gevoel dat deze spread helemaal niet werd wat ik wilde...Ken je dat?
Sometimes it just happens: a journal page that just doen't seem to 'work'...With this one lots of things went 'wrong' : little ink stains happening, new gluestick not working well, white gelpens that suddenly stopped writing...and an overall feeling that this page just wasn't turning out how I wanted it to...Know the feeling?

Nou ja, toch maar gepost ; ik vind sommige stukjes wel mooi gelukt, het midden bijvoorbeeld..
Well, I posted it anyway; there are parts in it that I dó like, like the middle part..

And there's more fun stuff in my Etsy shop ! Like these cute little 'matchbook' notebooks and sets of collaged/painted manilla tags for using in your mixed media projects !

Mini mandala's in black and white...

Hi there!

In mijn laatste post beloofde ik jullie foto's van mijn zwart-wit doedels, dus ..hier zijn ze:
In my last post I promised to show you my black and white doodles, so..here they are:

Hoezeer ik ook hou van werken in (heel veel) kleur, toch ben ik ook gek op het werken in zwart-wit. Deze heb ik gemaakt met een 'gewone' vulpen. Kleine verhaaltjes in een soort mini mandala vorm. Ik begin gewoon met een soort ronde vorm en een paar lijnen en dan komt het plaatje' vanzelf...

As much as I love to work with (lots of) color, I'm also very much attracted to working in black and white. These I made with a normal fountain pen. Little stories in a sort of mandala form. I just start these with making a sort of rounded form and some lines, and then the 'story' unfolds like that...

Oh my.....was it that long???

Hi there!

Is het echt al meer dan een maand geleden dat ik hier was??? Zomervakantie is echt geweldig, maar niet goed voor het bloggen!
Ik zal gauw even een snelle update geven over waar ik mee bezig ben geweest (wat betreft kunstige dingen dan...)
In willekeurige volgorde:

Is it really over a month ago that I was here????? Summer holidays are great, but not good for blogging haha..
Let me just give you a quick update of what I've been up to (artmaking-wise that is..)

Well, these are just a few of the things I've been busy with.
Furthermore, we had a lovely holiday in Ireland! (of which I'll post some pics the next time)
And, I've got some great news about a new webshop (with art & workshops) I've just opened up!
But I'll dedicate a whole post to that one next time :) :)
