Painted bottles series

Hi there !!

En hoe is het met jullie op deze regenachtige dag ? Ziet er zo sombertjes uit buiten, bah ! Was net even in het bos met hondje, maar ook hij vindt dit geen pretje...
Maar ja...somber buiten, dan doen we veel kleur binnen ! Want regenachtige dagen zijn altijd wel heerlijk om lekker aan de slag te gaan met verf enzo ...

And how are you all on this rainy day ?? It looks sooo very gloomy outside, yuck ! I just went for a walk in the woods with doggie, but even he is nót happy outside, on a day like this..
But anyway...gloomy outside, means lots of color inside ! Because, aren't these rainy days just pérfect for doing lots of painting and other artsy stuff ..?

Works on paper

Hi there !

Ben op dit moment bezig met een nieuwe serie werkjes op papier.
Ik zet ze in mijn Etsy shop , onder de naam 20x20ArT. Drie keer 20: de afmeting is 20x20 cm , en ze worden verkocht voor € 20,--.

Voor deze 'kunst-vierkantjes' hou ik ervan te werken met een combinatie van collage, acrylverf, gouache, kleurpotlood en wat ik verder nog maar aan materialen voorhanden heb.
Ik werk ook graag op een intuïtieve manier; ik start met wat collage en verf, waarna ik ga kijken wat voor gekke wezentjes en dingen er uit die ondergrond 'tevoorschijn komen'. Die breng ik vervolgens met doedels en kleur tot leven, waarna ik mijn schilderijtje afmaak met heel veel laagjes en decoraties.

At this moment I'm working on a new series of artworks on paper.
I'm putting them up for sale in my Etsy shop, under the name 20x20ArT : the dimensions are 20x20 cm, and they are being sold for € 20,-- a piece.

I love to work on these 'art-tiles'w ith a combo of collage, acrylics, gouache, colored pencil and whatever else I can get my hands on.
My way of working is quite 'serendipitous' ; I start with some collage and paint, after which I just look what kind of creatures and things 'emerge' from the background. With doodles & colors I bring them to life, then I finish my painting with lots of layers and decorations.

A new year !

Oops !
Een hele maand niets gepost! Maar ja, december was ook zo'n superdrukke maand. Druk, maar wel
heeeel gezellig!
Hoop dat jullie ook allemaal fijne feestdagen hebben doorgebracht !
En uiteraard (zie hierboven): nog de allerbeste wensen voor 2016 .
A whole month in which I didn't post anything ! But then, December wás awfully busy. Busy ánd super fun & cosy !
I do hope you all had lovely holidays too!
And of course (see above): all my best wishes to all of you, for 2016 !

I didn't have much time for a lot of artsy stuff in December, but now I've started again with some journal pages:

And I finally finished this page below. It was sitting abandoned and unfinished in my journal for months...I didn't know at the time what to do with it. Did not like it much either !
But now it's finished after all !

Journaling again...

Hi all !

Vandaag deel ik deze nieuwe journal spread met jullie, en ik ben nu niet vergeten een paar foto's te maken van het proces!
Today I'd like to share this new journal spread with you; this time Í haven't forgotten to make some pictures of the making process !

Ik begon met een willekeurige collage van stukjes magazine papier:
I started, more or less as usual, with a random collage:

waarna ik deze overschilderde met gesso:
after which I painted some gesso over it, but in such a way that you can still see some of the background:

Daar heb ik vervolgens overheen geverfd met diverse kleuren acrylverf : warmgeel, urkoois, quinacridone rose, napels geels en geelgroen.
Then I painted over the gesso with acrylic paint; I used warm yellow, turquoise, quinacridone rose, napels yellow & yellowgreen.

De volgende stap was kijken of er ergens doodles 'tevoorschijn' kwamen; en dit meisje sprong onmiddellijk in het oog:
Next step I looked if I could see any doodles 'appear' and this girl immediately caught my eye:

In mijn rommerldoos vond ik deze 3D sticker; ik vond de kleuren hier perfect passen:
In my stash I found this little thingie, sort of 3D sticker; I thought the colors fitted here perfectly:

Nog meer rommelen en ik vond een oude ansichtkaart (ik geloof uit de Flow ooit) en een doodle mandala, ooit gemaakt:
Then I rummaged thru my stash some more and I found a postcard that I cut a bit smaller, plus a doodle mandala I once made:

Zoals je ziet op de laatste foto, 'vond' ik nog een doodle: op de een of andere manier kwam er net zo'n bos rozen tevoorschijn als die van mijn sticker ! Leuk toch !
As you can see on this last picture, I 'found' another doodle : somehow I saw the same bunch of roses appear as the one on the 3D sticker ! How cool is that !

Toen in de weer gegaan met verf, stiften om alles in te kleuren en hier en daar doodles toe te voegen. En dit is het eindresultaat:
Then I used my paint, paint pens & markers to color everything some more & add some doodling here and there. And this is the end result:

Fish has to swim...

Okay,

Ben zo blij met m'n nieuwe oliepastels, kan niet stoppen met ze te gebruiken ! Dus nog een andere A4 journal page afgemaakt vandaag.Ook natuurlijk nog heel veel andere media toegepast, o.a. acrylverf en collage.
Finished one more A4 journal page. So happy with my new oil pastels, can't stop working with them ! Of course I used lots of other media as well, like acrylics and collage.

Denk dat ik vanavond maar een visje op de barbecue gooi !
I think I'll do a fish barbecue tonight !

Hello there !

Ik heb een nieuwe 'liefde': olie pastel krijt ! Ik had nog een klein oud doosje liggen, dat ik voor het eerst sinds tijden weers eens heb gebruikt van de week. Nu heb ik mezelf inmiddels een grote nieuwe doos oliepastel cadeau gedaan :) :)
Dit heb ik gemaakt in mijn grote (A4) art journal; hieronder nog wat W.I.P. foto's...

I have a new 'love'; oil pastel crayons ! I found an old box last week that I used; really liked it a lot to work with those crayons. So now I bought a 'gift' for myself: a big box of oil pastels in 60!! yummy colors :) :) Happiness !
This piece was made in my big (A4) art journal; below I'm sharing some W.I.P. pictures...

Ik begon met een collage van gescheurde magazine foto's (van een italiaans dorpje) :
Started with a random (magazine) collage of ripped up 'italian' photographs:

Voor de verfkleuren liet ik me inspireren door de foto's:
For the colors of paint I choose, I was inspired by the pictures:

First layer of paint:

More layering with gesso and blue & purple paint:

Daarna heb ik getekend met oliepastels, collage toegevoegd en de letters gestempeld. Klaar !
After that I made the bottle & glasses with oil pastel, added some collage and stamped the text. Done !

Now I'm off to do some more 'oil pastelling' !!

Another doodle drawing spread...

Hi there !

Heeeeerlijk, eíndelijk is het toch echt zomer in Holland ! Had nog een 'ondergrondje' in mijn art journal (zie foto onderaan); dat, én het mooie weer, zorgde voor inspiratie van deze journal spread !
I looooove it, fínally summer has really arrived here in Holland ! It took some time...! Still had this background in my journal (see pic below) ; so thát, plus the lovely weather, inspired me to make this cocktail spread !

Hier nog een update van wat ik allemaal gemaakt heb de afgelopen tijd; sorry dat ik niet zoveel heb gepost op mijn blog, het waren drukke tijden!
Here's another update of what I've been up to these past few weeks. Sorry for not finding the time to post on my blog more often, but times have been a bit busy!

Ben voor allemaal begonnen met een collage(van stukjes magazine papier), daaroverheen verschillende kleuren acrylverf; en toen ben ik 'op zoek' gegaan naar de doodles !
I started all of them with a random collage of magazine paper bits, which I then painted with acrylic paint; then I tried to 'find' the doodles !
