Doodles & collages...

Hi there

Dit is de nieuwste spread in mijn doodle journal; best wel een tijdje ermee bezig geweest, maar ik ben heel blij met het resultaat !
This is the latest spread I made in my doodle journal; it took me a while to finish it, but I'm quite please with how it turned out !

Van al mijn art journals, is mijn doodle journal denk ik wel mijn favoriet; vind het heerlijk om met kleurpotloden te werken. Heb onlangs weer een nieuw setje aangeschaft, van Faber Castell deze keer. Heerlijke potloden, prachtig diepe kleuren....
Ik heb altijd een soort 'snoepwinkel-gevoel' als ik voor zo'n kleurpotloden stelling in de winkel sta, ken je dat?
Of all my art journals, I think my doodle journal must be my favourite; I just love working with colored pencils. I recently gifted myself with a new set, Faber Castell pencils. They are really very nice, beautiful deep colors...
I always feel like being a child in a candy store, when standing in front of a rack with colored pencils, recognize that?

Mini mandala's in black and white...

Hi there!

In mijn laatste post beloofde ik jullie foto's van mijn zwart-wit doedels, dus ..hier zijn ze:
In my last post I promised to show you my black and white doodles, so..here they are:

Hoezeer ik ook hou van werken in (heel veel) kleur, toch ben ik ook gek op het werken in zwart-wit. Deze heb ik gemaakt met een 'gewone' vulpen. Kleine verhaaltjes in een soort mini mandala vorm. Ik begin gewoon met een soort ronde vorm en een paar lijnen en dan komt het plaatje' vanzelf...

As much as I love to work with (lots of) color, I'm also very much attracted to working in black and white. These I made with a normal fountain pen. Little stories in a sort of mandala form. I just start these with making a sort of rounded form and some lines, and then the 'story' unfolds like that...

Tiny canvas

Hi there,

Ik had dit mini canvas (10x10cm) nog ergens in een hoekje liggen; was eigenlijk niet helemaal goed (met deukje..). Heb er dit kleurig schilderijtje van gemaakt:

I had this tiny canvas (10x10cm) still lying about; it had a little 'dent', but today I used it to make this little colorful thingie.

Cat ACEO's

Hallo!

Gisteren had ik weer 'ns zin om wat mini art te maken, dus ben ik begonnen met een serie 'kleurige katten'ACEO's :

Heb ze geplaatst in mijn Etsy shop en ze zijn tot mijn verbazing direct verkocht! Ben blij!
Dus ze zijn nu al op weg naar hun nieuwe huis :)

Yesterday I wanted to do some small artwork again, so I started a 'colorful cats' ACEO series.
Posted them in my Etsy shop and to my surprise they were sold immediately! I'm happy!
So they're already travelling to their new home!

More Inktense...

Hi allemaal,

Heb weer heel wat gemaakt afgelopen week (nog steeds bezig met mijn favo Inktense potloden..): nog 1 grote tekening , met collage, en 3 kleintjes van 6x9 cm:

I've been busy this past week,with my fave Inktense pencils again; made 1 more big drawing (20x30cm), with collage, and 3 small 6x9 cm ones:

Shadowbox..

Hi all,

Ben gek op shadowboxes, die vind ik zó leuk! Dus heb ik er zelf eentje geprobeerd (twee zelfs), met collage & zentangles. Heb 'm gemaakt van een leeg lucifersdoosje. (altijd leuk om te recyclen haha)
I love shadowboxes, they're always so cute. So I thought I'd try to make one myself, with collage & tangles. I made it from a empty matchbox (always nice to recycle haha)
This was my first try:

which looked alright, but I like the second one better:

I'll make some more soon & perhaps try some different sized boxes too.

Junkmail

Hi there,

Heb weer een mand vol met junkmail!Dus.. heb weer lekker zitten knippen & plakken. Junkmail is geweldig materiaal voor het maken van ATC's of postcards.
Junkmail's been piling up again in my house; so it was time for some cuttin'and pastin'. Junkmail is just such great material for making ATC's or postcards.

Butterflies..

Hi all,

Houden jullie ook zo van het maken van ATC's? Ook als je weining tijd hebt, kun je toch snel iets moois af hebben..En ik vind 't zo leuk staan als je eenpaar van die kleine werkjes naast elkaar inlijst/ophangt...
Deze heb ik gemaakt met collage en tangles:

Are you also fond of making ATC's? I love making them; even if you have little time (which is usually haha), you can still make something small & beautiful in a short time. And I like the way they look if you hang 2 or 3 ATC's in a frame next to eachother..

Heb ook weer ge-experimenteerd met collage & tangles op groter formaat. Niet helemaal tevreden over de collage...Heb rechthoekige stukjes gebruikt. Dacht dat dat beter zou combineren met de toch wat drukke zentangles. Maar rechthoekig werkt toch niet; beter toch maar vloeiende vormen te gebruiken. Ben wel blij met de combi van (felle) kleur en zwart-wit tangles.

Did some experimenting again with collage and tangles. I'm not quite satisfied with the collage though...Used square forms, because I thought they would combine better with the patterned tangles. But square obviously doesn't work; better to use more flowing pieces.I do like the combo of (bright) colors and black & white tangles.

Shakespeare in love!

Heb een hele stapel mini collages gemaakt(6x9cm'), nu te koop in mijn Esty shop!
Allemaal met het thema `Shakepeare in love´. De ondergrond is namelijk gemaakt van stukjes tekst uit de stukken van Shakespeare (zoals Romeo & Juliet, Love's Labour's Lost...) Verder heb ik gebruikt: handbeschilderd tissuepapier voor de kleuren, mijn eigen stempels en magazine cut outs.

Made a whole bunch of small collages, for sale now in my Etsy shop! All within the theme 'Shakespeare in love'. Because the backgrounds are made from pieces of text out of Shakespeares' plays (like Romeo & Juliet, Love's Labour's Lost..). Furthermore I used handpainted tissuepaper for the coloring, handmade stamps and magazine cut outs.

I'm really pleased with how they turned out!

Mini art

Hi,

Heb van de week een groot vel "achtergrond" gemaakt. Begonnen met gescheurde stukjes tijdschriftpapier, toen diverse lagen gesso, acrylverf, stempels etc eroverheen. Een lekker vrolijk geheel.
This week I made a big "background" paper. Started with torn magazine paper, then I added layers of gesso, acrylic paint, stamps etc.
It all looks happy & colorful.

Vervolgens heb ik het vel in stukjes gesneden.
Then I cut the paper into little pieces.

Nu ben ik bezig om er mini mixed media schilderijtjes van te maken.
Ik heb er al een paar af:

Ze zijn gemaakt met handgeverfd tissuepapier, Copic markers en found poetry.
De werkjes zelf zijn heel klein, 6x9 cm.
En binnenkort staan ze uiteraard in mijn Etsy shop!
They were made with handpainted tissuepaper, copic markers and found poetry.
The paintings measure 6x9 cm, 'mini' indeed.
And of course they'll be in my Etsy shop shortly!
