Looking for yourself....

Hai all!!

De hele week al hoorde ik steeds dit liedje voorbijkomen van Train: "Drops of Jupiter". Niet dat ik hier nou iets speciaals mee heb, maar één regeltje bleef maar steeds hangen..."while you were looking for yourself out there"...
Tsjaa , volgende week alweer 55 (*zucht* waar blijft de tijd...) en af en toe heb ik 't gevoel dat ik nog steeds 'zoekend' ben, haha....In mijn werk, hoe ik daarmee verder wil, maar vooral ook in mijn kunst (je kent dat wel, twijfel twijfel, ben ik wel goed genoeg...wat wil ik hier nou mee...wat is nou mijn eigen stijl....)
Afijn, lang verhaal, maar daar kwam dus deze tekening van! Hieronder een hele serie W.I.P. oftewel work in progress...

All week I kept hearing this song on the radio by a group called Train: "Drops of Jupiter". Not that it means something special to me, but somehow this one line kept playing in my mind: "while you were looking for yourself out there"...
Well...next week I'll be 55 (*sigh* time flies...) and every now and again I feel that I'm still 'looking' for myself , haha...In my work, what & how I want with that, but especially in my art ( you know the feeling, doubt, doubt....am I good enough...what do I want with this....how can I ever find my own style...)
Okay, long story, but this is how this drawing came about! Below you find a series of pics of the W.I.P.

 I started with a word : "Find"

Btw , I came upon this idea by a video on youtube by Ulrike Hirsch. She starts with words and then doodles all around them...

 

 

What I used (of course haha) for coloring: my lovely Inktense pencils and 'normal' Caran d'Anche colored pencils. Black fineliners of course, and white Posca pens.

"Owl always love you"...

Hi all!

Kom vast al in de stemming voor Valentijnsdag, met dit uiltje dat 'always will love you' ...
Heb hiervoor weer mijn favoriete Inktense kleuren gebruikt; het is een combi van collage , zentangles & kleurige doodles.
I must be getting in the Valentine mood already, with this sweet owl, who 'will always love you'...
For this piece I used my fave Inktense colors again; it's a combo of collage, zentangles & colorful doodles.

The secret garden....

Hi all!

Wat is het koud vandaag zeg! Zo'n gemeen koude wind..., maar ja, aan de andere kant..laat de winter nu maar 's eindelijk beginnen!
Ik weet in ieder geval een plek waar je de kou vergeet (en vaak ook de tijd & de hele wereld om je heen haha..) en dat is: aan de tekentafel!
Vandaar deze collage-tekening: "the secret garden", een plek helemaal van mezelf, waar ik lekker aan de slag kan met kleur & vorm & doodles....

En hieronder nog een foto van het W.I.P. (oftewel work in progress):

Wow, it's so terribly cold today! The wind's really mean to your face, but then again...let winter finally start!
In any case...I know a place where I can forget about the cold (and usually I also forget time & place haha) and that is: at my drawing table!
Hence this collage drawing: "the secret garden' , a place all to myself, where I can play about with color & form & doodles...
I also added a picture of the W.I.P.

Having tea with Alice....

Hi all,

Even een kleurig werkje om deze sombere dag op te vrolijken. Gemaakt met een beetje collage, zwart-wit tangles en mijn trouwe Inktense potloden. Met een quote van de Mad Hatter : "It's always tea time! "

Made a colorful little piece to brighten up this gloomy day (grey clouds, rain brrr..). Done with a little collage, black&white tangles and my faithful inktense 'friends'. With a Mad Hatter quote; "It's always tea time! "

If it's so dark & gloomy outside, we'll just have to make our own little colorful world in art, right?

So make art and be happy!

Postcard fun!

Gisteren, zo'n heerlijke zondagmiddag, veel plezier gehad met het maken van collage kaarten, met stukjes & beetjes uit oude tijdschriften. Lekker spelen met kleur!
Yesterday, Sunday afternoon, I had a lot of fun making these postcards from mag clippings...Playing around with colors, love it!
