Loooong looong time ago....

Hi all,

Dat is heeeel lang geleden zeg, dat ik iets op mijn blog heb geplaatst!!! Ben de laatste tijd weer heel druk met werk; niet alleen met de 'gewone' catering, maar ook met de opzet van een heel nieuwe webwinkel, met van alles erin (catering, verhuur, kunst....)
Heel leuk om te doen, maar het kost gewoon gigantisch veel tijd! En dus...geen tijd om te tekenen & te bloggen enzo...
Even een snelle update van dingetjes die ik nog niet geplaatst had op dit blog:

It's really a loooong loooong time ago since I've posted anything on my blog! I've been só terribly busy lately (and still am), not only with the 'usual' catering business, but also with setting up a whole new webstore (lots of things will be in there...catering, party decor, kitchen art...) Super fun to do, but it's costing a huge amount of time! Soooo... less drawing & less blogging for now, I'm afraid. Anyway, just a quick update for now of things I have not posted yet...

So, that's all for now. I'll get to back to drawing & blogging as fast as I can, but for now it's work, work, work !!!

Some "ol' fashioned" tanglin' .....

Met wat workshops in het vooruitzicht ben ik alvast wat extra zentangle tile voorbeelden aan het maken:
gewoon 'ouderwets' zwart-wit tangles op 9x9 'tiles'. Voel me heel erg 'zen' !
With some workshops comin' I wanted to make some extra samples of zentangle tiles:
just some 'old fashioned' black & white tanglin' on 9x9 cm tiles. Feeling totally 'zen' !

Sometimes it's quite nice to be working just in black & white (but hey, I probably can't stay away from colors too long haha!)

Mermaid's dream...

Zo'blij met mijn laatste tekening; ben heel happy met het resultaat!
Ik "draag 'm op" aan mijn jongste dochter; zij heeft (zoals veel meisjes denk ik..) al heel lang een grote droom om ooit eens te zwemmen met dolfijnen! Ik hoop dat-ie ooit uitkomt!

I "dedicate" this one to my youngest daughter; one of her biggest dreams (like so many girls I guess...) is to one day swim with dolphins! I hope one day it will come true!

En aangezien ik vorige keer helemaal vergeten was om vorige keer foto's te maken van het hele proces, hier een hele serie 'how to':
Since I forgot last time to make pictures, here's a whole series of 'how to':

Eerst zoek je in je stapels naar foto's die je leuk vindt, die een verhaal vertellen:
Knip ze uit en plak ze op de juiste plek. Soms heb je niet het hele plaatje nodig; vaak is het zo dat een deel van de foto beter werkt ..
First you go thru your stacks & piles looking for pictures you like, that tell a story:
Cut them out & glue them in the right spot on your paper. Sometimes you don't need the whole picture; if you just use part of it, it sometimes works better.

Teken met potlood de meest belangrijke lijnen; zo verkrijg je ook al een goede balans in je tekening.
Ik kleur meestal mijn foto's en doedel eroverheen.
Draw the most important lines with pencil; it enables you to already get a good 'balance' in your drawing.
I mostly color my pictures & doodle over them.

Dan komt de volgende stap: beginnen met inkleuren ( ik gebruik Derwent Inktense pencils, maar het kan natuurlijk ook met gewone kleurpotloden of bijvoorbeeld waterverf)
Then comes the coloring ( I use Derwent Inktense pencils myself, but of course you can use any medium you like, f.e. colored pencils or watercolor paints..)

Vervolgens ga je alles 'versieren' met doodles/ zentangles en nog meer kleur.
Then you start to 'embellish' everything with more color and doodles/ zentangles.
You can also doodle some more over the pictures so they become really integrated in your drawing.

Where is Alice??

Hi all,

Weet iemand waar Alice uithangt? Ze is vast aan de wandel ergens in Wonderland! Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat & Konijn zijn in ieder geval naar haar op zoek in mijn laaste collage/tekening.
Ik was online al heel vaak "Alice kunst" tegengekomen; dus toen ik in mijn stapel knipsels plaatjes tegenkwam van theekopjes én een konijn, moest ik wel dit ervan maken :

Does anybody know where Alice is hanging out? Probably dreamin'away somewhere in Wonderland...! Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat & Rabbit at least are looking for her in my latest collage/ drawing.
I had seen a lot of "Alice art" on line already; so when, going thru my piles, I found these teacups ánd a rabbit, I just hád to make this!

I only have one picture of 'before' (was so busy drawing I just forgot to take more pictures haha..):

I might be making some more "Alice" things; rather like the subject :) :)
