Ben in Roemenie, vorig jaar al, in aanraking gekomen met de kunst van het schilderen op glas. Je vindt er (o.a. in het iconen-museum van Sibiel) prachtige glas-iconen, met roemeens-orthodoxe afbeeldingen.

Ik vond de techniek zo leuk, dat ik het deze vakantie zelf ben gaan uitproberen. (alleen geen religieuze afbeeldingen..)
Je schildert dus op de achterkant van het glas, wat betekent dat je eerst de details schildert en daarna pas de achtergrond. Je bouwt het schilderij dus a.h.w. achterstevoren op, vandaar "reverse" glass painting.
Als je dan iets vergeet of een fout maakt, en je zet er een achtergrond overheen, kun je dat ook niet meer herstellen..
Af en toe goed nadenken dus! (en de fout ingaan, haha...!)
Dit zijn mijn eerste 2 pogingen, gemaakt met acrylverf (ik wil ook nog andere verfsoorten proberen, ben niet helemaal happy met de acrylverf..)
Hi there, when on holiday in Roumania, I cam across the art of reverse glass painting. I found the most wonderful glass-icons, with roumanian-orthodox images (take a look on the site of www.sibiel.net, The museum of icons on glass)
I loved the technique so much, that I thought I'd give it a try myself this holiday (only no religious images..)You paint on the reverse side of the glass, which means basically you have to paint the details first , and afterwards the bakcground. You build up your painting in the "reverse" way.
So íf you forget something and you put a bakcground over it, you can never uundo your mistake...! That means, think carefully (and sometimes do it wrong..haha!)
These are my first 2 attempts, made with acrylic paint (want to try other paints as well, since I'm not really happy with the acrylic..)
